K I P "If I don't make it, someone else will"
[ The] young rottweiler mix pup stumbled over her own feet as she quickly scurried down the abandoned power station. The giant transformers leered over her like giants, causing her tail to tuck neatly between her legs. The large creatures never moved, not even a slight shudder. They made no sound, and made no notice of her presence. Kip wanted to keep it that way as she ducked behind a shed housing all of the plugs. The weather was pleasant today, a balmy seventy-two degrees. Not a cloud plagued the sky, only those annoying black birds that cawed and pecked at her when she tried to scavenge for food. Despite the beautiful day she shivered, gazing around as she hesitantly slunk from behind the shed. She had not eaten in a few days, and her stomach rumbled unhappily, reminding her. Wincing, she sat down , her collar clinking as it rubbed up against her neck. She raised up her hind leg to scratch just underneath it, causing the tags to jingle loudly. As soon as she heard this, her foot stopped in mid-scratch. The giants, however, remained silent. [ Rising] to her feet, the young pup headed for the front gate in hopes that the trash can had not been raided yet. This was unlikely, but her hunger pushed her large paws forward. Ever since her humans had disappeared she had been on her own. She was lucky that the door had been left ajar, allowing her to slip free of their house, for she surely would have starved to death. A sense of fear crept up her spine, as that was probably how the dog next door met his end. Perhaps she should have stayed, for then they would have been able to find her. They were coming back, weren't they? Her humans would not just up and abandoned her, especially their young son, Braden. Whimpering, her tail drooped at the thought of the lively blue-eyed boy. They had had many fun times, romping in the yard, playing tug-of-war. He wouldn't leave her... would he? [ Shaking] her head, she reached the main gate, wiggling underneath a piece of wire that had been pulled up at the bottom. The city trash can sat motionless, bolted to the ground so vandals could not take it. Rising up on her hind legs, she desperately scratched at the can, her nail taking off the blue paint. Whining, she could smell the human trash. A partially eaten cheeseburger sat on top, taunting her as the birds began to land around it. No! That was hers! Barring her teeth, she began to bark at the birds. Unimpressed, they continued to hop about, picking at the can. [/blockquote]

DOMINVS Dominus raised an eyebrow, flashed a few teeth in a grin. He wanted her to know he could rip her to shreds if she tried anything, but that if he wanted her dead, he would have done it already. [/ul]

K I P "If I don't make it, someone else will"
[ Those] stupid birds continued to hop around, mocking her with their beady little eyes. One even managed a peck to the end of the young pup's nose when she ventured too close. Yelping, she stumbled back, shaking her head vigorously as if that might somehow help ease the pain in her nose. It was at this moment that an unfamiliar scent smacked right into that sore nose. Raising her gaze slightly, she saw a large male standing opposite the fence. Perking up her ears, she hesitated slightly, taking a step back but not fleeing. His slight growl did not bother her, but merely intrigued her as they faced each other. Who was this male? He did not appear threatening, but it was obvious he could rip her to shreds if she dare make a wrong step. Taking a few steps forward, she kept her tail low until they were only a couple yards apart. [ He] was a massive dog compared to her little pup body. At the same time, however, he had a sense of grace and proudness about him. Unsure of how to approach, the young pup glanced back at the birds now pecking at the cheeseburger sitting on top of the trash can. Man, that would have been delicious. Her tail drooped as she glanced back, "I saw other dogs chasing the gray birds in the park all the time. These birds are not quite like those ones," she said, speaking of the pigeons she saw on her walks with her humans. These birds were not at all like them, but bold, daring, and aggressive if needed. The pigeons would just fly off whenever something disturbed them, leaving the precious food open to whomever was the next to take it. [ Pausing] for a second, the wheels in her mind began to turn. Her gaze was kept lowering than the male's, but she was definitely thinking. He was bigger than she was, bolder, and obviously stronger. The birds were a bit smaller than she was, so it made them not as afraid of her, especially now that they knew she would scamper off at a peck on the nose. So, that meant only one thing. "I know! You could probably scare them off, huh? I mean, those birds are almost as big as I am, so of course I wouldn't bother them." Her tongue lolled out of the side of her mouth in a lopsided grin as she tilted her head to the side. Of course, it didn't pass through her head that he could easily take the food and just run off. Or that he should be avoided. Her naive nature sometimes prevented sensibility from creeping into her little head. [/blockquote]

DOMINVS He said, voice deep. With a deep breath Dominus let out a massive bark, his body shaking with the power of it and he could have sworn the ground shook. Amber eyes glinted in amusement as he watched the birds scatter, cawing and flying away as fast as they could. Jumping up onto the trash can was no problem, and he grabbed the prized cheeseburger with gentle jaws and dropped it at the paws of the pup. “Eat up kid. You look starving.” He teased, a smile on his jowls. Dom returned to the trashcan, large head digging around looking for anything else edible. His nose led him to find a few half eaten chicken tenders. Opening his massive jaws he swallowed them hole, savoring the feeling of food in his belly. Jumping back down to watch the little one wrestle with the burger, he caught the scent of another. The hair on his neck bristled, standing on end forming a mane. Jowls pulled back to show canines as he returned the growl the smaller dog gave him. No longer was this about helping a little one, it was about dominance and food. Dominus held his head high, daring the other dog to try him. “If you know what’s best, you will tuck your tail between your legs and walk away.” He growled. If the other dog would have approached differently, announcing his presence in a whine or not baring his teeth, Dominus might have tolerated his presence. But since he approached in such a challenging manner, Dominus wasn’t going to take it. Surprisingly, he also felt a twinge of protectiveness. For a moment he felt in charge of the little one, keeping her safe from whatever intentions this other dog wanted. [/ul]

K I P "If I don't make it, someone else will"
[ The] pup really did not know the essence of survival, and it was obvious as she stared at him with that lopsided look. She really just wanted to play and be young. Being an adult was so much work, responsibility, and youth never stayed forever. Whining softly in the back of her throat, she continued to stare at him until he shook himself and dug to get under the fence. She gave a short happy yip as she bounded after him towards the garbage can where the birds were still pecking at the trash. Watching with awe, Kip almost stumbled backwards when the mastiff let out a massive bark. It could have been confused with a roar with the intensity of it. Fear should have crept up her spine, but there was only admiration. [ In] a matter of moments there was a delicious cheeseburger lying on the ground in front of her. Diving forward, she ripped it apart, practically choking on it as she swallowed. Her tail lashed back and forth as she licked the mustard from her chops. ”Thank you! I was pretty hungry,” she admitted, giving a puppish grin. ”Those birds were pretty scared, huh? They moved faster than a squirrel up a tree. Oh, look at that butterfly! So pretty!” She pounced at the monarch butterfly before it made a quick vertical escape. Huffing, she sat down and watched it fly away - something she, regretfully, could never do. Glancing back at Dominus, she thumped her tail against the ground. This male was alright. He didn’t seem to have any ill will towards her, or at least tolerated her antics. She had to admit that she liked him, and wanted to stay with him. [ However] her thoughts were shortlived as the male suddenly became aggressive and dominant. Rising quickly, her tail tucked neatly between her hind legs. Of course Dominus had not been talking to her, but the sight of the second male, whose posture stated boldly that he was dominant, made her want to slink back underneath the fence into the comfort forest of the towering giants. They at least did not bother her, did not threaten her with bared teeth and growls. Dominus didn’t seem particularly pleased about this sudden intrusion either, his own response ringing threateningly through the air. Glancing between both of them, Kip took a few steps back. Damon locked in his dominant enterance, not scared or intimidated by the larger male at all. He was just all fluff. Like, a giant Teddy bear. Pfft, all he was was fur and he up a face, so who wouldn't be scared if him? The pup that was cowering behind him, and Damon. Trust me, Damon had seen worse. He stepped forwards, lifting his head high and fur bristling high, bit caring about his words of the for that was placed before him. Damon had just had a meal before he came out here, he was stuffed and not interested in food at the time. All he cared shot was control. He was very rough and controlling; never backing down from a fight.
Damon chuckled, narrowing his gleaming brown eyes towards the other challenging brute. He didn't seem apprachable anyways, no one did these days. His aim was for the neck, nothing more. As he walked closer to the couple, an idea struck his mind. "You think you got me all figured out, huh teddy bear, eh?" Damon pricked his ears, standing tall and waited for a response.
[[ Sorry my replies are bad right now!!! they'll be up in a couple of days!! ]]

DOMINVS He murmured, hoping that she wouldn’t be caught in the cross fire of what was about to happen. Violence was inevitable, especially now with the male showing no signs of backing down. Dominus easily had eighty pounds and six inches on the other male, it was stupidity that must have driven his actions. Or pride. The hubris that led to the downfall of many, he thought. Well, it would be this dogs last mistake if he thought he could challenge Dominus and get away unscathed. Amber eyes watched as the male grew ever near, his muscles tensed, anticipating anything. Already in his mind he was calculating the scenarios. The opponent only puffed up more, and whoever had inflated his ego had just signed his death warrant. Dominus stood unraveled, watching him scoff and taunt. “Cocky little bastard aren’t you?” he said coolly, no growl in his voice. Curled tail was poised over his back, fur bristled making the beast look massive, easily the size of the lithe Sheppard. Agility was the only thing the smaller male had going for him, and Dominus knew easily how to use it against him. The easiest tactic was to go for the throat, a quick and clean kill. That was assuming you could get to it first. The Tibetan Mastiff as a breed was known to have a double coat, along with loose skin. If the Sheppard lunged without thought he would be a mouth full of what he called “Teddy Bear”. And that would make it all the easier for him to bite down on the back of his neck, a less common point of attack. “No, but I think I would rather be a teddy bear than a pipsqueak like yourself. What are you? Eighty pounds soaking wet? Turn tail before I rip it off.” Dominus repeated his warning, voice never changing. He could feel the impending attack, and waited. If it wasn’t self preservation, it was for the kid. Dominus had been in too many fights with eager males, willing to lunge, he knew to wait. So he bid his time, goading and waiting. A few paw steps forwards and him and the pup would have a new meal to last them a few days. [/ul]

OOC: You guys go ahead and post for a couple of posts about their stand off. Kip really doesn't have anything to do until you bring her into it. I have a few things to do this weekend anyways that are going to be time consuming, so this is the perfect opportunity for a show down =D I'll keep an eye on the thread when I can.

Damon smirked. This guy thought he was all high and mighty. Pfft, he wasn't taking his crap. Obviously the brute didn't realize, that he was a German shepherd. The most powerful and dangerous bite in the world. Next to the rotweiler, which he seemed to be friends with. The puppy behind him, who was a mix, stood shuddering and fear cats in her eyes, with a mixture of curiosity. A sly smile cracked on the shepherd's evil little maw. She was very curious, but her fear kept her from driving. Damon really had nothing to loose, or gain. Only that the mastiff would eat his words about what a 'pipsqueak' really was. And he would regret ever when he set eyes on Damon. The dog was a devil. Damon had just approached like he regularly would, making sure he was not challenged. And he was, which was another bad choice. Damon smirked and simply padded around the brute, to his poolside end, facing the puppy.
"Actually, I weigh 114 lbs. And the largest if my breed." he paused. "Make a smart remake outta that, smart guy. Im betting half of your weight is your matted fur from the looks of it. " he remakes flattedly. Fearless? Yes. Stupid at tines when he should snap out if it? Yes. An idiot? At times. Damon then turned his attention to the puppy, he plopped down beside her, grinning from ear to ear. Totally relaxed, fur down and tail high. "Is this guy slow on ya, huh bud? He ain't bossin' you around... Right?" Damon raised an eyebrow, gently and slowly making a safe and puppy-like enterance towards the pup. Much more entertaining than the older mastiff.'

K I P "If I don't make it, someone else will"
[ The] stand off of dominance between the two males was unsettling to the young pup. The stench of anger filled the air around them, and Kip really didn't know what to do. Glancing between each male, she slunk back a few steps. A part of her felt silly for being so frightful. Straightening up, she tried to lift her tail, but it failed to obey her will. It remained tucked between her legs, quivering slightly. As the sheperd male began his way towards her, plopping down as if they had known each other for a long time, she began to lose her courage. Stumbling a few steps back, she eyed him warily. This naive little pup wanted to think that this male had good in him, and wasn't just looking to pick a fight. Reality was not always on her side, and she stretched her nose out slightly, sniffing. [ He] didn't look like he was going to attack her. Then again, she had thought the birds weren't going to either and she had ended up with a sore nose. Pinning her ears back uncertainly, she yipped softly, "No, he has not been bossing me around. He has been very kind to me." Her voice felt weak in her throat as it trailed off at the end. How pathetic was she? Shaking her head, she raised herself up again, trying to gain back the courage that had fled so readily from her. "D-Don't fight! You don't need to fight. It isn't necessary!" she spoke a little louder, hoping the courage and reason was there in her voice. But her heart sank as she glanced warily between the two males again. It really wasn't necessary. This wasn't territorial pack ground. It was a place for dogs to roam freely. Whining softly, she took another step back. ooc: got this out in between shifts at work. Sorry it took so long.
