Paranoid walked, sniffing the sidewalks. He could tell there were new scent markers here. Another male had claimed the place. Fantastic. They were probably plotting to kill him right now, if not yet, the moment they spotted him.
Everyone was plotting to kill him.
Still, Paranoid realized his begging days were probably soon going to be over. The humans were disappearing. He needed a new source of 'income', food, so to speak, and a pack would be a good one. This male would probably realize the value of allying together. Maybe they were even trying to start a pack. In that case, he'd have protection from other packs around here. One could never have too much protection. And in a pack, he could watch some of the dogs plotting to kill him more closely, and convince them not to try anything.
He threw up his head and howled, his coyote side showing in his instincts.

Bullet heard the dog and howled back he looked out the window of the hotel and quickly ran down the steps and outside to the front of the building. He barked an ear splitting, deep voiced bark and sprinted towards the dog. As he cited the dog he slowed down to a halt stood up in front of the dog ears pricked, body slouched, eyes narrowed. It was a male. A tall, pretty bulky male. Bullet was at least 2 inches bigger then him but that didn't stop him from blocking his territory. "What brings you here, Mutt? Just wanted to invade personal space? Well guess what when you enter that fence it says danger and keep out!" Bullet yelled in his deep voice as he hovered over the brindle coated dog. If the dog wanted to join he would approach a bit nicer but he knew nothing of this mutt. "If you want to fight you would have to join my pack because i'm infected." He grinned and finally backed off. "Being infected just means you grow bigger and bulkier and become more immune to things. Also it makes you a bit meaner and a bit more weary." He smiled. Bullet had always been infected. His family grew up here and the abandoned him here to live alone and one day find a mate and a pack.

When the howl reached his ears, he braced himself, and wasn't disappointed to find a deep, black and orange canine racing towards him. Reading for battle, he felt gladdened when they stopped, though still too close to comfort.
Personal space? No, never. But in Paranoid's opinion, personal space was everything within five, or on a particularly suspicious day, ten feet of you. This dog had invaded his space first. Then again, Paranoid had never had a home. "If I wanted to invade, I would have just stayed quiet. I don't care about you being infected." he said, without sneering, merely matter of fact. For all he knew, everyone was infected. Everyone but him, of course. Or maybe he was too. They were all evil.
The brindle debated his options, but knew he didn't have long to answer. "A pack. You are making one." Matter of fact tones, yet again. "I will join. Unless you meant the comment about keeping out, of course?" It was a simple matter to Paranoid. Either the dog wanted joiners, in which case Paranoid was now part of the pack, or the dog did not want joiners, in which case he wasn't and should leave as soon as possible before the dog tried to kill him. Any other solution would be illogical, including the scenario where the dog did want joiners and did not want them to keep out, but rejected him anyway. Personality issues, emotions, they were all illogical.
Ironic, considering his plans for everything were fear induced.

"Oh well, Mutt, you entered my territory and you entered my life. SPACE!" He yelled and he backed up the sprinted up to the dog and clashed with Bullets shoulder in his chest. "Dirty loner. If you want business here then just say it, Fella." He said grinning and put his leg under the dog to try to trip him. A couple of the pack members came out too. "It's my pack against a loner." He said growling and narrowing his blue and brown eye. Many dogs said his brown eye was black but Bullet thought that was stupid. He said "Alright. Up to you. Join or leave. If you want to fight then prepare to get beat." He said barking at the dog with his low ear splitting bark. He heard the dog say more he backed down and sat down. His ears eased there way to the side a little bit. "Yes we have many spots open. What spot would you like to be in?" He said. "Oh and I didn't get your name." He said grinning.

The male dog knew the other was kind of crazy the moment the other dog didn't wait for him to finish talking before bashing into him. He eyed warily the other pack mates coming out. Typical big shot. He didn't bother to dodge-- he knew this type. The type that was open about how much they'd love to escalate into something bigger, but might be impressed by his standing his ground without fear. He wasn't going to give them the pleasure of a fight though. It actually lessened Paranoid's wariness to know they were so open with their intentions, but not much. The dog trusted nothing, not even his own perceptions. He didn't put it past life to get him into the pack, only for the other dog to yell 'just joking' and attack him anyway. Or for the disease to suddenly turn fatal for all of them. But Paranoid didn't waste time being afraid of possibilities. He knew there were some things he could do nothing about. Everything else, though... for that he would plan for every eventuality.
"As I said, I am joining." That was obvious enough. It appeared he'd have to get used to his companion's... different manner of speech. "Is second in command open?" Paranoid decided to be logical. He'd want the highest position he could get, since that would benefit him the most. On the other hand, if it was taken, he didn't care to fight over it, at least not until he got more established in the pack.

Bullet shook his head and said "Sorry but No. We have many other spots open like soldier and spy. We have a very loyal pack and we dogs howl to communicate from far places." He said saying a couple simple things to let the dog know. He thought this dog was pretty trustworthy, for now. "And i'm sorry but we have worker open. You would hunt, make traps, feed the hungry mouths and train young dogs how to fight. How about soldier?" He smiled and jumped on a trash can. Bullet looked up and howled and the other dogs in the hotel and warehouse howled back. Now there was the whole pack. "You see, communication." He nodded trying to show him how he should use it for danger and tough situations.

Hmm, already taken? Too bad. Paranoid decided it was probably for the better though. A high rank meant more people aiming to take you down and stab you in the back. "Soldier sounds good, but, spy, who would I spy on?" he asked with interest. Spying, he already liked to gather information on everything and trusted no one. If he was given the mission to spy on another pack, that meant he could watch two sides at once. Fantastic.

"Very well then. And you would spy on other packs and dogs in my pack that i'm suspicious of." He smirked and looked at him, then chuckled. "I will tell the others about your position as soldier. You will be a valuable addition. You look strong. Now tell me, are you infected? If you aren't thats OK." He said thinking of the memories as a child when his dad told him he had gotten infected. It had been through the genetics now for Bullet's family but he didn't want to tell his mate Lacey because he didn't want her to get worried about her pups. But it was bad to lie. He took a deep breath and looked back at his new recruit. He nodded and knew he had to grow up and tell the truth to Lacey. "Now for your fist order of business, be lurking in the shadows so you can jump out if I get attacked. You have to protect your pack mates." He smiled and winked at Paranoid.

"Of course. I see that being a spy would be more affective if it was not know I was a spy." Paranoid pondered and accepted that as logical.
And other packs, there were many more around as he'd suspected? Troublesome, quite troublesome. But for now, he'd act like a bodyguard for his alpha, and hang around as his shadow as ordered. He nodded his head. A part of him wondered who would be stupid enough to attack the alpha of such a strong and large pack. Then again, no one was invincible. Paranoid would just have to be paranoid enough for the both of them. Such was a good job for him, he reflected.

Bullet nodded and said "I expect you to do good. I will be in the warehouse." He trotted off with his chest puffed out and his ears perked up high. He went into the warehouse box and slept there while Paranoid did what he wanted.
He hoped he hired safe members or else they will be killed and forgotten. Bullet nodded and smiled. His laughter filled the air and he swiftly fled to another box to get bones and food supplies. He had to go check on his pups.
